Biog & More Information

Tara spent her early years with the Beaufort Hunt Pony Club, hunting on and off with the Beaufort since her teenage years, starting affiliated show jumping in 1992 and affiliated eventing in 1995.

Tara initially trained with Gary Witherford in 1996 to learn about “starting” horses with a kind and stress free method which gives the young horse a confident start to life, even experiencing Gary starting a Zebra !!.

Having competed many different horses, Tara has gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge, especially with difficult horses and has learned how to get the best from them.

Tara has trained with many different riders such as : Williams Miflin, Andrew Bennie, Robert Stevens, Stef Eardley, Helen Cole & Fiona Hobby and Shaun Mandy.

Tara lived abroad working on super yachts for a few years but finally returned to riding in 2005 and began eventing again with a home produced “unrideable” chestnut mare “Wingy”, her only fault really being a bit too keen !!  Tara rode her up to BE100 competing their first be100 clear xc inside the time, however we have now found her true joy in life… Hunting !

Tara was then handed down the ride on Tiger Rag III Winston’s (brother) old Advanced Horse, Tara took him on at Novice Level and competed up to Intermediate and International CIC2* level completing Barbury Castle CIC2* in 2011 aged 19 and Gatcombe CIC1* in 2012 age 20, he was retired in 2013 due to a fractured pedal bone and is now ruling the roost at Park Farm !

CasparLongleatWhisker Anthem came home after a successful kissing spine operation and Tara rehabilitated him and took him back to Novice level eventing.

Mr Jumbo Jangles (Stallion) “Fluffy” joined us in 2011 as an uncut 3yr old, his breeding is exceptional as is his talent and he has been kept entire mainly for our own use. in 2013 he has given us a stunning colt foal “Henry”.

Tara has slowly produced him, competing mainly in show jumping in 2013 qualifying for the KBIS British Novice Regional Finals for 2014 winning 3 out of the 4 qualifying rounds and 3rd in the other.

Zeitgeist joined the team in July 2013 to try and fill the shoes of Rags, big shoes to fill. So far we have been placed 9th at Monmouth Be100 Plus and had another good run at Dauntsey BE100Plus clear inside the time at both, unfortunately had a peck on landing at Larkhill but prior to that had been absolutely flying round the meaty novice track and now cannot wait until 2014 :)  scan0026we will be aiming for, CCI1* at Houghton , some  Intermediate and CIC2* at Barbury Castle in 2014 with the grand aim on Compiegne in France in 2015 a favourite of one of the team supporters.

Tara has been brilliant at not just teaching for a lesson but staying in touch and really coaching you through problems. At a recent event I spoke to her throughout the day about progress and worries. She talked me through the XC and we flew round clear. Tara has also helped with my youngster and will continue to do so after his holiday. Tara is able to teach individuals, groups, novice, experienced, young or old and everything in between. I regularly attend her SJ clinics with a mix of horses in the group.

Tara has been the greatest instructor we have had, she not only has been incredibly flexible to come to our home to train us whenever suits, but she has restored our confidence and never pushed us too far. Also Tara has helped me find a horse that is a perfect match for me despite my hesitations!

Tara taught my daughter at PC Camp last year and several times through rally\\\'s and privately since. She has a kind, sympathetic approach but is firm and will push horse/pony and rider to achieve their goals. From child to adult, novice or experienced combinations she can adapt to accommodate all ranges. With her own competition experience Tara knows what is required to prepare Horse and Rider for those important days. As a instructor and competition rider myself I cannot promote Tara\\\'s training methods enough plus she makes it fun too!!

Tara is a knowledgeable and sympathetic coach, who is encouraging without being demanding. As an experienced event rider she is quick to spot and explain adjustments that can make all the difference. She has been exceptional in helping me to regain my confidence after an injury. I can highly recommend her.

I have been training with Tara for over two years. After a long break from jumping due to infury both me and my mare were quite nervous about getting going again. As she wouldn't jump a small cross pole intially I felt we were resigned to doing flatwork forever. With Tara's patience we are now making great progress and I feel confident that we will be out and about competing and enjoying ourselves this year.

Tara listened to my needs, assessed my abilities and tailored the sessions to match. She filled me with the confidence i was lacking and helped myself and my horse work as a team. I highly recommend Tara to anyone looking for a professional friendly instructor. Ten out of ten.

Myself and my horse have been attending showjumping clinics regularly since September with Tara at Rectory Farm. I have a 6 yr old horse who started off life as a polo pony. Since our first clinic at 80cm, at which we were very green and speedy we have progressed to jumping clear and confidently around a 1metre course!! Tara has helped both our confidence loads, taught me to trust Pepper through great encouragement and teaching!! Even being in a clinic with 3 other people she still teaches everyone as an individual and takes time to correct and help with any issues. I have also been xc schooling with Tara at lynham Heath which was also fab and I left feeling I had much improved in the areas I needed to! I am looking forward to competing at both BE and BS this season, something 6months ago I would never have thought possible! I will Continue to have Tara teach me as Pepper and myself work our way through the levels!!
